Yum Yum!

We celebrated Pappa’s 51st birthday this weekend at my personal favorite—the Yum Yum Shop. This was an extra special birthday not only because Ansley planned it all but because we still have our Pappa here. God has chosen to take his cancer diagnosis and turn it into a blessing for our entire family several times over. We serve a mighty and gracious God and I am humbled daily by His love and mercy…

Happy Birthday Pappa!

Pinkalicious Pumpkin

Ok, so maybe I’m not keeping up with this quite like I should but I’ll find that balance soon. Our school library is hosting a pumpkin decorating contest and Ansley MUST enter. She is partial to all things advertised, whether it is a circus or wrinkle-cream, if there is a flyer she must buy it or be part of it. This endeavor seemed like fun so off to Michael’s we went in search of perfect pumpkin supplies.

Our task was to create a pumpkin based on the child’s favorite literary character. The first part was easy—Pinkalicious. She has been part of our family for several years and we love, love, love the entire series.

Next we needed to acquire all the trappings needed to create said literary character, without spending a ridiculous amount of money that would need to be justified to Daddy.

Ta-Da! The finished product.

She did the majority of the work, which is essential for any project that my kids are going to put their names on and really enjoyed it.

Not bad for a Sunday afternoon project…

Scarecrows and Rodeos

We are all excited about the slight drop in temperature. I am so enjoying sitting here with the windows open. I love Fall and all things Fall related, for example scarecrows. Friday afternoon we had our first 4-H meeting of the new year and worked on our scarecrow in honor of National 4-H week. By Monday the courthouse lawn will be adorned with scarecrows of all different sizes and genres. Our club the "Buckaroos" opted for a traditional, western attire scarecrow and the kids had a blast creating it.

Today was the final rodeo in the Crossbrand Cowboy Church's Kids Ranch Rodeo Series. This is the kids 3rd year competing and what a blessing it has been. Godly men and women coming together to not only help the kids showcase their skills but minister to them on their level, as well. This is Riley's first year in the big kid events, so he is learning a lot about being humble and the satisfaction of trying your hardest even when you don't bring home the buckle. He loves every minute of it. Ansley opted not to compete this year but still enjoys the company of her friends and cheering on the boys. We can't wait for next year!
